Expert advice & in depth knowledge of flint properties

Steve inspected a flint farmhouse & gave me invaluable advice as to how it should be maintained in the future and advice on possible damp issues. Steve had a deep knowledge and understanding of the traditional techniques used in older properties. I would highly recommend Gatehouse Heritage Consultancy to anyone who wants to look after their property sympathetically & effectively.

Knowledge and expertise in this area is truly incredible

Having a 17th-century listed cottage in a conservation area can be difficult and costly when seeking advice. I’m always concerned when dealing with tradesmen to be sure that I’m not being over charged by some pushy salesman or dealing with someone who does not understand old builds. Steve Briggs of Gatehouse Heritage consultancy reassured me that there are people in this industry who genuinely are passionate about the property you own. Steve made the time to look around the property and its outbuildings and asked questions to help him understand what I was looking to achieve. His knowledge and expertise in this area is truly incredible. I felt at ease when discussing renovation options and was confident with the consultancy advice given. for a better experience so far!

An absolute pleasure

Working with Steve and his team from Gatehouse has been an absolute pleasure from the start! Their attention to detail in the early stages—from site visits and surveys to creating detailed drawings—has been outstanding. They took the time to understand our needs, making us feel confident and excited about our renovation project in Southrepps, North Norfolk. We couldn't ask for a better experience so far!

Professional and responsive

I found the team behind Gatehouse Heritage Consultancy Ltd to be the right mix of personable, professional and responsive to my needs as a customer. This included needing specialist knowledge on care and repair for a listed building, concerns managed and resolved around water ingress and getting something repaired that the scaffolders damaged. This was taken care of without question - I don’t think a regular building company would leave me with the level of satisfaction they did.

We were in safe hands

We are so grateful to have had the Gatehouse team work on our project. From the first meeting we knew we were in safe hands. Their attention to detail, extensive knowledge of old buildings and suitable materials for sensitive repairs, and exceptional craftsmanship enabled us to restore the Old Vicarage to its former beauty. We couldn’t be happier with the result.

Above and Beyond

I contacted Steven as a first time buyer looking for an old property and could not be happier with the fantastic service I received. I was contacted back within 10 minutes and we connected immediately on our passion for restoring historic homes. Steve accompanied me on a house viewing in West Norfolk for the 170 year old semi detached cottage as I was unsure whether there were signs of subsidence & damp, which would have made it impossible to get a mortgage on. Steve provided a thorough & professional pre-purchase condition report that when submitted along with my mortgage application allowed me to receive an offer back on the same day. Steve’s advice and assessment has given me the peace of mind I needed to move ahead with my purchase and I’m incredibly grateful for the work him and his family business do. I will absolutely be reaching out to Gatehouse Heritage Consultancy in future as my partners in restoration.
